First Visit

Your First Visit With Our Rancho Santa Margarita Orthodontist

Here at Cook Orthodontics in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, we are always excited about the opportunity to meet new patients and discover how our team can help them achieve and maintain a new, beautiful smile. We know that your first time seeing an orthodontist can be daunting, but rest assured that we will welcome you to our office with friendly smiles and make you feel right at home. Whether it is metal braces, clear braces, or Invisalign that you are interested in, from the first day you enter our office you will be treated with exceptional care and professionalism in safe and comfortable surroundings.

Your first visit will last about 30 minutes, and will consist of a thorough examination and a discussion of your potential treatment options. During the examination, we will address the following questions:

  • Is there a condition that orthodontics can address?
  • Is treatment needed now or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption or other factors have occurred?
  • What treatment procedures will be used to correct the problem?
  • Do any permanent teeth need to be removed?
  • How long will treatment take?
  • How much will it cost?
  • What are my payment options?

We know that your time is valuable, and in order to expedite treatment we may also reserve an hour of your time following the initial exam to take diagnostic records that are essential for developing a treatment plan. These records include:

  • X-Rays
  • Photos
  • Impressions for study models

Not every first-time visitor receives a recommendation for orthodontic care. In this case, we will ask the patient to return periodically for complimentary check-ups to monitor their growth and development so that treatment we can begin at the most optimal time. If Dr. Cook, our RSM orthodontist, determines that treatment is appropriate and diagnostic records are taken, she will diagnose and plan your treatment. We will then schedule a treatment consultation visit.

Treatment Consultation Visit

At the treatment consultation visit, we will review your treatment options, time frames and estimated costs. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions and discuss the suggested treatment in detail. It is very important to us that you come away from this visit with a good understanding of your specific orthodontic needs, how those needs will be met, how long treatment will take and how much it will cost. We always want you to feel comfortable asking any questions that you may have about any portion of the orthodontic treatment process.

In the interest of saving time, please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your first visit:

  • Any panoramic x-ray taken in the past six months
  • If you have orthodontic insurance, bring your insurance card. By providing this information at the first visit, we will be able to give you an estimate of your costs.

Just as no two people are exactly alike, no two orthodontic treatment plans are exactly the same. At Cook Orthodontics, we promise to give you the personalized attention and care that you deserve. If you have any questions about your first visit with us, or would like to schedule one, please contact our Rancho Santa Margarita orthodontic office today!
